Nyla Courter

Nyla Courter is a living historian portraying historical women including Betsy Ross. She dresses in costume and presents the interesting histories of many famous and not so famous women. Her goal is to help people learn more about history by using historical tools, wearing period-appropriate clothing, and performing everyday activities to bring history to life for observers. Nyla is a retired dentist, rural hobbyist, writer, and gardener in addition to raising sheep. She grew up on farms in Indiana and enjoys history, science, literature, and drama. Nyla has two children and five grandchildren. She volunteers at her church and teaches Bibles studies and budgeting seminars. She is also the author of Christian and young adult and teen fiction including the popular Coram Deo series and The Orchard: The Coming of Age of Elsie Bainbridge and The Mystery of the Northern Woods.
